The key is E major (first note is G#). Hope this clarifies things.

Me too, the violin was a bit out towards the beginning. And my wind ensemble just played this for UIL. But i also play violin, and i did notice the key differences. The Wind Ensemble one is in Eb Major (or its relative minor) But i don't believe this is a half step, i actually think it's a whole step. Because the first note of this is an A, and the Ensemble one starts on a G. So that would include a Bb in there, so this would be in F Major (Or its relative Minor). Hope this helps.

cello sounds amazing, same with the piano. the violin player needs to pay attention to intonation more. i noticed the key is also a half step higher than other band recordings i've heard. this is in E major, right?

Wow, I almost like this version better than the symphonic version. I'm in a band in High School performing this song, and it's probably my favorite Grainger work now. You all did a very fine job on it.

Thank you all. This has has for many years been a song I keep coming back to. It has a very great significance to me reminding me of my dearly departed Dad. I was reduced to tears as I first heard your rendition and am crying now thinking about how I listened to this at the end of most of our final evenings on the balcony and imagined what inspired Grainger to write this beautiful evocative peice. Beautifully played. Thank you.
