This is probably the rarest and most creative Opening Ceremony ever held for a world sport event. Without official explanations and open to free interpretations, it is an spectacle carried out on Paris streets in an open and free environment. 4 giant soccer players, representing the 4 continents participating in this edition of the World Cup, walks down Paris streets, discovering their worlds. This spectacle was officially named "UN MONDE DE GÉANTS, LA FETE DU FOOTBALL" (A world of giants, the football celebration). The giants were:
HO: The yellow one, representing Asia MOUSA: The blue one, representing Africa
PABLO: The orange one, representing the Americas.
ROMEO: The sky blue one, representing Europe.
All of them started their walk from a different representative Parisian landmark to finally meet each other at Place de la Concorde. This was the "unofficial" Opening Ceremony, since the official one was held next day at the Paris Stadium before the Opening match. Commentaries in Spanish. Taken from the Chilean TV coverage (Canal 13, TV-UC)
