Girl on a motorcyle - with a difference.

A12 London to Southend Road, Easter Monday 2007, we see one very unique motorbike, amongst hundreds on the road. The motorcyle is a hearse.

Artists Wyllie O Hagan on their way to visiting a garden from the NGS's Yellow Book get caught up in the excitement of the Southend Shakedown - an annual event where 20,000 bikers leave the ACE Cafe on the North Circular Road in London and ride to Southend.

They get to talk to the girl on the motorcyle, but have no plans, just yet, to ride with her...
Enjoy today!

We have since learned from Reverend Paul Sinclair, Managing Director of Motorcycle Funerals that "the bike you featured is our Suzuki Hayabusa Hearse and our rider is Miss Lucy Jane, she is our first ever full time hearse rider."

The vehicles in the Wyllie O Hagan video "Heavenly Bike Ride on a Motorcycle Hearse" are patented by Motorcycle Funerals Limited. Further information is available on their website at

  • Lucy will probably have now seen this video and comments, since I got here via a mutual friend's facebook page.

  • @wakecarter Thanks for watching. Loads of people have,Lucy's famous:)

  • This is totally amazing and what a seriously cool bike to use. I got the chance to talk to the rider at the Brighton Run this year and not only is she seriously cool, but she is totally dedicated to her job. She was having a laugh and joke, but when she started talking about the funeral side, she was totally serious and focused. She really was totally proffessional. I haven't yet had to use this service, but compaired to the alternatives, i wouldn't hesitate to recommend Lucy or the company.

  • Thanks very much for your comments. I am sure that Lucy and would be happy to read them Motorcycle Funerals would be happy to read them too. Wishing you all the best.

  • one last blast up the road

  • never seen one of those before haha

  • @silliegirl50 its not a luggage rack they are flower rails to put flowers on

just like a normal hearse has

  • It's to hold flowers in place on the funeral. X

  • Hearses have racks to attach the floral tributes to.

  • I think think bike hearse is a great way to go for bike lovers and for people who would proberly wanted something a little different like this motorbike hearse. You certainly call it the the final ride to heaven can't you

  • Hi there the reason for the baggage rack as u call it. Its actually used floral tributes and not luggage as u proberbly thought u see these racks on all hearses in the uk they come as standard on all hearses normally cheers dan

  • Nice but creepy

Do any bikers love to ride so much that they wouldn't be caught on 4-wheels even AFTER their dead? Personally I'd be just fine with the traditional hearse ride.
