I used to kayak and sail a lot when I lived in the PNW; smiling at the issue of crew communication and botched landings. Been there. What a great video.

Wow!! I take my hat off to you. That was some pretty daring stuff. I take it that it was just the 2 of you there ( no other kayaks or canoes who waited out in the water for you). I really enjoyed that. I look forward to seeing more of your adventures. This inspired me to maybe get my wife into canoe sailing as well. Thanks a bunch for posting!!

The sail was made by Carl Daniels, Sailmaker. It's a Sharpie type with sprit boom and snotter. I made the mast and boom. It is an excellent sail for a canoe. Handles superbly down wind in a blow. Easy and safe to jibe. Boat does not yaw and roll going down wind. Have sailed in 20 mph winds. The canoe will get up and plane in a good breeze. It would tack better with a jib, but I sacrifice that for the comfort and ease of the crew. I just take a few strokes with the paddle to finish tacking.
