Count-by

Teach your children to count-by 1s,2s,3s,4s,5s,6s,7s,8s,9s,10s.
This is how I taught my children to multiply before they know their tables.

That is a strange comment. Dots on dice, and suits on cards are arranged in such a way that the human player can recognize the number expressed. Of course, these are examples in which a secondary grouping occurs. They might re-enforce your thesis.

However, the point of the video is to teach pre-numerate children how to become numerate. Parents with young children can put wall hangings in the kitchen so that the sequences are part of the visual landscape.

In USA, there is a lack of number sense.

well, estimating moving targets arn't the norm for grouping. as mangoismycat said, I've also heard it's 4. allthough if they're moving it could very well be reduced to 3's.

It's like when people count by drawing lines, the norm is to draw four lines then cross those lines with the fifth line, making it a group of fives, because five vertical lines would create confusion. but then again, it could very well be that we recognise that configuration.

this is fun to watch as an adult, however I am trying to help my 9 year old, who gets the answers right in math, however has trouble memorizing mulitiplication.

Humans cannot group numbers over 3

Try counting people passing on the street and try doing it in 5s or 6s you can't do it you automatically start grouping them in lower numbers
