Pedals and Pumps: A Festival of Organ Divas--B. Dennerlein

Trinity Wall Street presents its third annual summer concert series featuring performances on its Marshall & Ogletree American Classic virtual pipe organ. Pedals and Pumps: A Festival of Organ Divas, highlights contemporary female musicianship and offers the talents of American, European, and Asian "organistas."
Barbara Dennerlein, Germany's most famous jazz recording star and concert organist, improvises her own works using both classical and modern jazz idioms. She will use theatrical registers programmed by Cameron Carpenter for the virtual pipe organ.

The whole concert was great but I especially loved her arrangement of Dizzy's "Tin Tin Deo" starting at 34:20. Great to hear her choice of tempo (speed/style) didn't fight against the very live accoustics of the room. Last time I posted a similar comment, it was marked as spam! I have no idea why. I am a fellow entertainer in the jazz trenches and I mean what I say about this stellar talent from the fatherland. Bravo Barbara!

This my second check on this site. All these great Classical pipe organists laying hot jazz on us. Barbaara knows how to USE those huge pipes just like she does her portable B3. And then there were and the great Black women church B3 artists who can roll in keys and augmentations I never of. Isn't she the Queen of the jazz Aeolian-Skinner wranglers. I'd like to hear her on the Riverside organ.

Man I'm lovin' this! Anyone that plays keyboards knows what a radical transition it is to play a B3 with almost instant response, and then switch to a large pipe organ where the delay on some of the pipes can be close to a half a second from the time you hit a key, until you actually hear the pipe speak. This is one versatile lady! She makes that big baby sit up and talk. Amazing performance. :))

Je ne me lasse pas de l'écouter jouer. Elle est dans le Top 10 des organistes Jazz (Hammond et ici sur un instrument unique) du 21e siècle !
