I found a snare similar to yours for 120, I'm more of a 90's hard rock/grunge player though, do you think it's worth getting??

Hey what is your ride cymbal?
Sounds so sizzling. Love it!

your the man. nice set and stick recover. real talent

The ponderguy,
I purchased my set in 1958. I lived around the corner from Kent drums in Kenmore N.Y. I still have my set and although I have improved on the traps, the drums are the original and they sound as good as ever.

I must say after watching this that i'm a fan of the sound..did not expect that from these drums.I was under the knowledge that Kent were subpar drums like apollo"s.But since your demo I've researced this company and am very interested in checking some out for myself.Great find 2 ply maple on the cheap. But the info I got says that kent started using import shells in the late sixty's? Anyway thank you for the demo and that bass does sound very good....

Open sounding bass drums are back in style. As Louie Bellson quoted, " You need some carrying power to cut through the band". Old kits rock. I like kits that have the snare lugs on toms and bass drums, although the double ended bass drum lugs are hard to find.

Very nice chops there man! I really like that loose (relaxed) grip on the left hand. My left hand is a mess but I make it work. You sure have some great old drum kits there. Good stuff. You might get a kick out of my solo clips on here too (my little tributes to Buddy Rich). Keep playing!
hey, i was wondering what muffling you use in the bass drum? thanks

no muffling in any of my bass drums. just powerstroke 3 front and back heads. all you need these days due to head technology.
Plus i like the more "open" sound. thanks

I've recently got a coated ambassador for my 20" ludwig bass drum and when i use no muffling i get a VERY open sound. I'm looking for a joey baron kind of sound and was wondering if you could help? Would you muffle your bass drum with a coated ambassador?

yes i would muffle any single ply coated head that doesnt have muffling built in to the drum head. But when you do that you get to much of a "dead" sound.Thats what is nice about the coated powerstroke 3 and powerstroke 4 drumheads. They have built in muffling that doesnt require alot of added muffling.I like to use coated powerstroke 3 batter side and coated powerstroke 4 reso side with no muffling. Its a punchy sound without all the extra overtones that standard single ply heads sometimes have

you mentioned you got the kit from ebay. I'm looking out for a vintage kit on ebay and was wondering if you could help. did you know before hand that this was a decent kit, or did you 'get lucky'. thanks alot!

the seller was really good and down to earth. he actually allowed me to call him to ask questions. There were no "suprises" when i got the kit. The snare drums bearing edges were HORRIBLE and needed worked on and the throw off needed replaced. (i still dont really use the snare drum) kent bearing edges are hit and miss.
Overall it came the way it was listed. I would put this kit next to other vintage companys such as slingerland, gretsch, ludwig, and rogers as far as sound and appearance.
