The Family Book by Todd Parr Removed in Erie IL.mov

This is in response to the Erie IL school board banning The Family Book because of parent complaints that it features non-traditional families. The book was being used as part of a anti-bulling, diversity and tolerance curriculum for elementary students.

You know I think it's the death thing that might be an issue even with liberals. I don't have a problem with it. But that's a big hurdle you'll have to jump over even if you get conservatives to accept the other nontraditional families featured in the book.

Hi, Todd. I had never heard of you until I saw pin with this response to the school board's disappointing decision to ban your book. I have a four year old and I am always looking for new ways to teach my son to embrace diversity. I just bought of copy of Todd's book for my three year old (in direct response to this moronic school board). I cannot abide book banning, nor can I abide hiding and shaming families who are different because you don't agree with their choices. I don't agree with the decision to raise children to think homosexuality is a choice and a sin, but I don't go around demanding we pretend such families don't exist.
