  • I like big old boxy cars.

  • Most of the Ford vehicles that were built on the Fox chassis like this Granada were known to be very dependable. Why do you thing the Mustang was still built on that platform until 2004?

  • These revised designed Fox chassis Granada bears a stronger resemblance both the 2 Door and Four Door models to its Bigger Brother the Panther chassis Ford LTD. The Station Wagon version was really nothing more than a Ford Fairmont wagon with a Granada Nose grafted into it.

  • This Fairmont based Granada wasn't really that much smaller than the Falcon/Maverick based 1975-80 versions. What is 1 inch shorter in overall length means? Two Words: BIG DEAL in the Automotive Industry during those times. The only noticeable difference, This Fox Platform Granadas were at least on the average 500 pounds lighter than the models that they have replaced. This Fairmontized Granada was known as the Ford Elite in Mexico.

  • I'll say this being a Chevy/GM guy, if I really was going to buy a Ford, this would probably be it.

  • @optio4 The 1981 model also had improved aerodynamics versus the earlier Granada. Between the weight savings and slightly - I stress, slightly - more rounded edges, this car was much more trim and efficient. 34 mpg highway is based on those fudgy EPA estimates of the past, where optimal economy could be achieved by a traveling a steady 45mph with low-resistance tires and basically every component of the car turned off!

  • the transmission on the 1981-1982 Ford Granada US

    Transmission

    4-speed automatic

    3-speed automatic

  • @luso2kx hahahaha :)

  • 34 mpg? That was obviously with the car turned off and rolling downhill.

  • I thought that the original Granada was already small, even much smaller than this version? I had never seen a 2-door Granada as I like the 2 door version better. Too bad that there are no more 2 door personal luxury cars any more. All we have is sports cars that are more like racing cars.
