@mysongsend: There *ARE* people who *deserve* the remarks I stated. You may well feel that I was overly critical, but my ire is aimed at only a relatively small segment of the population whom for various reasons seem to revel in their ability to harm others, refuse to help themselves, parasite off of productive citizens and let irresponsibility and impulsiveness determine their pathway through life. It is certainly not my intent to target the handicapped or feeble-minded.

This scene is brilliant. It is sufficiently surreal to be plausible as a dream, and its message captures the introspection that he must have experienced while in solitary confinement.

Sadly, this "wasted life" statement really speaks to a great number of idle people. Many alcoholics, the chronic welfare parasites, the educational dropouts, those who lack persistence, the "work-shy" lazy-asses, the driftless without goals, those who expect entitlements without self-sacrifice or without contributing to the maintenence of the safety net, and yes, the criminal element of society. Truly, a wasted life is a most apalling crime. This should be one of those timeless movie statements.
