On May 18, 2008, Jacy Good and her parents attended her graduation ceremony at Muhlenberg College in Allentown, Pennsylvania. On the way home, a young driver talking on his cell phone ran a red light, causing a tractor-trailer to swerve and crash into the Goods' vehicle. Jacy was critically injured, and both of her parents, Jean and Jay Good, were killed instantly. Jacy spent four months in the hospital and still spends much of her time in physical and occupational therapy.
Jacy is now an advocate against distracted driving.

Here is the problem with Distracted Driving. Ban cell phones. It wont work. I feel for the victims and I see why it is no laughing matter when it comes to cell phone use behind the wheel. But there is not enough police to look inside every car to see what these idiots do behind the wheel. I am all for these PSA's and other propaganda towards banning the use, but WHO is going to enforce it.

I had the privilege of knowing Mrs. Good from middle school. I didn't hear about this until recently. My hear broke for Jacy and her family. We need to put a stop to cell phones behind the wheel, whether it be texting, calling or even hands free. Talking/texting is distractive behind the wheel and is similar to driving under the influence.

@Dane1st "Using your mobile phone while driving is illegal in the UK, I can see a good case for doing the same in America"
It already IS illegal in many states within the USA. The precedence for having a law such as this has already been established. Unfortunately, it takes time for every other state to follow. Like most everything else, it takes a certain amount of deaths and/or public awareness to get laws changed but it IS happening.
As for the other America's, I have no clue.
