http://houseinspectionhelp.com/homebuyersguide/index.htm Home inspections aren't difficult to do, but it definitely helps if you have a little bit of experience. Most of home inspectors don't have much experience working in the construction industry, building things. A large majority of home inspectors have went to specialty schools or were hired by a home inspection company and then trained. If you're going to do your own home inspection, it wouldn't be a bad idea to hire a home inspector anyway, just to get a second opinion and compare your notes with. If you're not going to hire a home inspector, it wouldn't be a bad idea to contact a contractor in the area to get their opinions on the problems with your home. Most home improvement contractors will provide this service for free, hoping to receive some business from you in the future. What if you hired a home inspector and they found one thing that you missed? Could this save you a lot of money, especially if this was a big problem and could have led to expensive home repairs in the future? The answer to this is yes and this is the reason why we should always use home inspectors, even if it's only for a second opinion.
