The bad news is that this probably isn't what you've been waiting for. Hell, the footage isn't even from ToD2.

First off, if you absolutely don't want to see the final form of the last boss from Tales of Destiny Director's Cut...well, it's probably too late now, but don't watch the clip. I didn't name anyone though, so if you can't read Katakana, then you won't be able to figure out who it is just by looking.

Summary of the last 4 months:
a) The family business went through 4 sets of managers, the latest of which were fired about 2 hours ago. They weren't kidding when they said that good work is hard to find.
b) Stupid old me decided to have a heart and save a puppy from the pound. Too bad she likes to vomit all over my place at least once a week. And if she eats one more bar of soap, there's going to be trouble, I swear.
c) School. Yeah, this particular block is important because I took a leave of absence around this time last year due to craziness, so the stakes are high, to say the least. Just to show how crappy my luck is though, the building literally caught on fire during my first exam. And despite popular opinion, it sucks when it happens for real. -_-
d) Keyboard on my computer is jacked up (i.e. missing some keys, etc.), so I have to send it in for repairs soon. *sigh*
e) And finally, the real reason for the abnormally long delay. I'm retiring from the translating business. At least, that's what I've seriously been considering all this time. Between the time constraints and the fact that I've gotten plain sick of the series lately (no thanks to some of the hardheaded, crazy ass Tales fans out there), I've just had it. Plus, I sorta lost even more motivation when I found out that there were several other people (who shall remain anonymous) who have interest in translating ToD2. So I've basically been juggling all these elements in my head for a while and I still haven't reached a decision yet (aren't you glad that the fate of the world isn't hanging in the balance?). I actually started playing ToD: DC in the hopes that it would rekindle some desire to continue on with ToD2 and the series in general. Did it work? Well, yes and no. In any case, at the very least, I want to finish up the segment that I started (it's about 80% complete) before I say anything either way, so you'll be getting at least 10 more minutes out of me.

Oh yeah, and if anyone actually cares about the video, the rank was Hard, I stuck to just translating the Blast Calibers, and I'm not absolutely sure about the translation for the last part, but not like that last point is anything new for me, I guess. And yes, Woodrow is my favorite person to control and no, it has nothing to do with his resemblance to a certain peach pie eater who we all know and love. ^^ As for the rest of the dialogue, I was either too lazy to translate it or I couldn't hear exactly what they were saying (whose bright idea was it to not include a sound test!?). Again, nothing new, I'm sure. *wink* Anyway, enjoy and whatnot.

P.S. Looks like one of the WMG lackeys finally nailed my ToR parody. Time Warner officially has no sense of humor, I tell ya.

  • Well good luck with everything. I know sometimes life comes at you kinda rough. I personally appreciate the work you have contributed to the fans. Regardless of the idiot fans out there you still kept the rest in mind. Thanks

  • I know this may sound sorta improper considering the cirstuamces you wrote on the description, but thanks for all your work.

It was really an inspiration to get into japanese and translating tales games (even if it was just for myself and some or another hiougi exhibition thingie), I still gotta thank you.

I hope you still have the will to push foward in your life to the fullest, and hey saving a puppy is a really good thing!

I hope it grows into a big doggie! Have the best of luck in your life!

  • Oh and I agree, Woodrow/Garr is the man.

  • Not to mention like basically every fanbase out there, the Tales series has its hotheaded, immature, idiots. Opinion is one thing, but man.

But anyway yeah. If you do decide to cut off your "business" so to say, very understandable. And while I don't particularly care for Destiny 2 or the Destiny 1 remake except for a few features, I will still say thanks for what you have done.

As well, a gigantic thank you to your translations of Rebirth. See you whenever, I guess.

  • Well... what can I really say that hasn't already been said? A? Shoot, lots of people feel you on that. B? Dogs costs lots of money. Might seem cruel, but sometimes you gotta resist. C? Yeah, we all think about it, but it seems alot don't realise just how bad it is/can be. D? Either way it costs money, and jacked up keyboards are just as annoying as worn out mouses. E? Totally understandable. Translating takes alot of work, especially for long games like these. To be continued:

  • Glad to see you're living!!

  • Ohh, lanyn, that is so disappointing to hear. :( I'll support your decision though, because translating is a lot of hard work. ToR was such a treat and I won't be selfish about ToD2. I just really hope someone will eventually give it a full, proper translation. ;_;

Good luck with everything! <3 And thank you for all you've done for the Tales fandom. ^^

  • Srry to hear about your resignation from this, though I understand after that beastly tackle doing literally all of Rebirth. Not to mention your current endeavors in life which I can completely understand. I wish you the best and cant thank you enough for TOR,cuz youre pretty much the main reason I seriously considered importing it in the first place, along with the others. And unfortunately Im falling into the same boat as e) too,but at any rate, your work has always been greatly appreciated!

  • I discovered your channel fairly recently, but I'm very grateful for the translations you took the time to make. I don't know Japanese, but they flow well and are very enjoyable to read, so I think you're very good at it! Hope things get better, life gets pretty crazy sometimes. Also, you're really good at this game! I had a lot of trouble with this boss on the same mode, and you're good at using Woodrow.

  • Aww... Well, if that's your final decision Lanyn-san, there's nothing anyone can do about it. I really enjoyed watched the great translation you did on ToR and the tib bits of ToD2. I hope for the best for your life. ほんとにありがと- にゃ~! *bows head*

  • Agreed. I've left the forums once because of them. They all just nitpick every little thing about it and make it unenjoyable. I just play them and enjoy it.

  • Ah there's a description now :O

I can't blame you for having such thoughts, lanyn. I was actually surprised when you started Destiny 2 considering how thourough your Rebirth translation was. To bring Rebirth to another language was more than anyone could ask from 1 person.

I have to thank you for the trouble you went to to finish it up, and the personal help you gave me on TSF. Life just keeps getting crazier and crazier for everyone it seems....

    Also, Woodrow > Destiny ;)
