"The Thread"

I have followed a thread,
Sailing on my floor..
During many moon turns around its time wheel
I have etched the sound of my footsteps
into the chambers of my ear,
only to hear the heat of its noise grow hotter,
more fierce..
My door wasn't open when I started,
but now I can see that it leads out, and not in a circle
Like I used to walk ..
I step towards an unknown opening,
An unknown light
Shining in all eternity, without battery
While the machines pound louder in my ears
I follow the thread, towards their symphony..
of metal.
I have to tensen my senses,
for the thread is barely visible anymore.
I run faster, for I wish to see where the thread leads.
It is almost gone, but the path is still here
The only thing that confused me, was how fast it all disappeared
And below my feet, I found out with dread
That I was falling into an abyss ...
And I got crushed.

- Andreas Rylander. 2011.
