Breath Of Fire 3 PSP - GooKingSword. Ryu's best weapon , the legendary GooKingSword, dropped by the Goo King. This was my third one!!! The key to getting this (or any rare drop item) is the Charm skill (It doubles the chance of item drops). If your characters are faster then the Goo King and can deal alot of damage then don't bother stealing the Green Apple. I actually had an easier time getting this then the Lifestealer.

wait wait wait you mean you cant steal the apple THEN charm it? because ive killed 200+ of these things stealing the charming. I dont even know why i bother stealing it because i can kill the things in 1 turn any way....

@Jackafur it doesn't matter when you cast Charm. Stealing the apple is only good if you cannot kill him in one round. So if you can kill him before he runs just cast Charm and don't bother stealing.

a curious question - does the INT of the one casting Charm affects the effectiveness of Charm? Since I realised your characters had 500 INT...

I got the gooking sword by gameshark on my ps1 version of it, bugger fighting goo kings for all eternity!

@Perkyguy shadowwalk/aura/triple blow with GooKingSword is even better then with the Royal Sword... I only mentioned Thunderstrike if you want an electric attack with the GooKingSword. Overall the GooKingSword is better then the Royal Sword, it is just more difficult to obtain.

@Evol96 shadowwalk/aura/triple blow with royal sword is far superior to a thunderstrike with goo king. Besides, the paralyze effect doesnt affect bosses, and tbh, none of the regular enemies in the game really deserve a thunderstrike, unless you are aiming for electricity weakness exploitation.

@Perkyguy Thunder Strike + Gookingsword > Royal Sword... You don't really need the Gookingsword, the Royal Sword will do, but it is nice to have all the best weapons imo... I am just extremely patient.

@Perkyguy To tell you the truth its not that much better than the royal sword, and if you remember to fish a barandy when you first get the chance, you get to use a royal sword for a very large part of the game, and its the second best sword. Plus dessert crabs die with 1 hit from electric weapons so it makes the dessert less annoying. I have a video uploaded where I fight Dragon king and Myria with the Gooking sword.

I've killed like 80 of these things in 3 separate playthroughs and only got 1 sword. What I do is use chain formation: rei uses Pilfer, XXX uses Charm, and ryu does a Tiamat transformation which only costs 13 mana and Tiamat is immune to every spell attack of the goo king.

nah man lol. still working on it. been doing it off and on for at least 2 years now. Also i'm on the ps1 version but I doubt it makes a difference.
