In a battle of undefeated teams in week 5 of the 1977 NFL season, the Broncos shocked defending Super Bowl Champion Oakland with a 30-6 win. The key was this fake field goal trick play - a play that humiliated the Raiders!

This game was supposed to be broadcast on NBC in the East Coast (philly area). But the broadcast had technical difficulties. I was so looking forward to this game and soon as they went to the opening at 4pm a still frame of the Coliseum with 'we are having technical difficulties' popped up.

This ONE play was the BIRTH of the "Orange Crush"! Anyone who knows the history of the Broncos will know what I'm talking about. This was the play that started it all!

I was at that game, sitting in the end zone seats right above as that play unfolded. It was surreal. I was 10 years old at the time. It broke my heart. Those were the days before those seats became the "black hole," where they are now filled with convicts released from prison on furloughs.
