Five Essentials of Survival
Shelter (3 hours in bad weather)

Food (3 Weeks without food)

Protection (To protect family and self)

Shelter -- Poncho, Down Sleeping Bag, Wool Blanket, 550 Para-cord (to make tent), the closes on your back (be prepared with a coat or rain jacket).

Water -- Stainless steel canteen, Chlorine dioxide, filtration straw.

Food -- 3600 calorie food rations (x3)

  • You over estimate the ability to simply add another down sleeping bag and a poncho to get to -50F. You will freeze to death. Secondly, down is warm, but once wet it has no insulating ability. You need something to really protect the down like a gortex cover... Not being critical, just sharing advise from someone who lives in a "cold weather" state.

  • @legaleagle123 I agree about keeping down dry and adding a poncho probably only adds another 10 degrees of protection. While not shown in this video I have a Gortex bivy that would go over both down sleeping bags (but left it). -50 might be unattainable with two 20 degree bags and a gortex bivy but 0 or -20 degrees is probably within range ( I've done -10 with a 0 degree down bag, with a down coat zipped up and pulled over feet, with the poncho cover the top and I was quite warm).

  • would you reccomend the glock in 9mm of the glock 40cal?

  • @WildLifeGuy308 Many people like the larger calibers but I chose the 9mm for availability if shortages were ever an issue (since it's a very common caliber). Cost and weight are the other issues. I'll shoot my 9mm more because it costs half as much to shoot than the .40 or .45.

Can you give me some examples of "extreme sircumstances"? Maybe Sir Elton Jon has become a zombie and is chasing you?

  • i was raised hunting and trapping so in my bug out i have a henry survival rifle. if you have to u can use to protect yourself. In the long run your saving weight if you can catch/kill your own food than carrying pre-made meals with you, which will run out over time. Also u can carry more small caliber rounds than pistol rounds and save weight.

  • i have an old old old bag from the national gaurd its a goose down hahaha its warm as fuck!!!!

  • I wish ppl would mention possible hunting purposes with having a firearm in their videos... I know I would try to pop a deer or something if I was hungry... instead of eating mre's and such.

  • Plan for the 1/3 Failure Factor. In battle or a disaster scenario 1/3 of your gear will inevitably get lost, malfunction, fail, or spoil. That's why redundancies are so important.

  • @istabuhaterz911 facepalm*

  • What are these BoB for? I can think of a few things like home invasion (wouldnt need the shelter),your town being under siege (would need all the stuff to go into hiding, but what are the chance that will happen),and camping, but everything would be tough to carry all at once.

  • Hey man i really like your video. everything seems rational and well thought out (unlike a few other videos ive seen) thanks so much and im checking out your website

  • @Wackaveli no i think it is the case, or maybe a military first aid kit..

  • @bobaloosb 550 paracord is good.

  • My question is, where do you 'bug out' people plan on bugging out to? I can tell you if things get so bad people start leaving the cities, people in rural areas (like myself) will NOT be rolling out the welcome carpet for you.
