Multipurpose Heavylift Vessel in South Atlantic Ocean. Heavily rollig due to deep center of gravity. Seaman from Ukraine gets caught in a tool-container, when the waves come splashing over the working deck. Plywood, dunnage and palettes flying around. Dangerous situation, but he made it at the end. The water came through the bunker stations. A common problem on this series of vessels.

  • He was so lucky to have survived...looked like he could have easily been swept into the sea..horrible rolling, and yet the sea itself did not look that rough..We take for granted how Timber gets to us..and wonder why it is so expensive when it does arrive! Glad the guy on the working deck was ok. maybe a change of socks, but nothing worse!

  • @Oakleaf700 Yes,rolling was horrible. More than 30° to each side, with a rolling-period of less than 15 seconds sometimes. Like a tumbler! There was a load of 8k-tons of raw iron bricks in the hold, that laid very deep and caused the center of gravity to sink pretty far. The waves were only about 2-3meters (6-9ft) high, but very long, I think about 20meters (60ft). The vessel is 19meters broad (57ft), what makes an additional precondition for heavy rolling. Imagine sleeping in these conditions!

  • Hinnerk16, I would rather not imagine sleeping on this vessel!-my friend's dad has a small boat and ''forgot'' to fill it with fuel..a storm blew up in the Channel, and unable to use the sail, they were drifting towards busy shipping lanes-luckily French Coastguard came to the rescue, and gave the dad a bollocking for being so daft! my friend said it was very scary, and he felt sick too. Not a fun trip! -so you mountain bike too?![my son does as well]
