Pat Buchanan, political analyst, columnist and author of Churchill, Hitler and the Unnecessary War: How Britain Lost Its Empire and the West Lost the World, discusses the British politicians' colossal blunders that led them into World War I and II and the collapse of their empire, the consequences of American intervention in WWI and imposition of the Versailles Treaty, Hitler's motive to regain the lands lost in the east and willingness to forsake former German provinces in the west out of his desire to avoid war with England and France, what really happened at Munich, the folly of the British war guarantee to Poland during their dispute with Hitler over Danzig and the real lessons of the second World War.

Pat Buchanan is an American politician, author, syndicated columnist and broadcaster. Buchanan was a senior adviser to American presidents, Nixon, Ford and Reagan, and was an original host on CNN's Crossfire. He sought the Republican presidential nomination in 1992 and 1996. He ran on the Reform Party ticket in the 2000 presidential election. He co-founded The American Conservative magazine and launched a foundation named The American Cause. He has been published in Human Events, National Review, The Nation and Rolling Stone. His new book is called Churchill, Hitler, and The Unnecessary War: How Britain Lost Its Empire and the West Lost the World.

  • Pat is logical and approaches history with fair-mindedness and depth which many ideologues on the Left and the Right will try disprove with pure ideological convications rather than facts. Those who automatically see Hitler as a devil and Stalin and his allies as saints (despite their profoundly larger and more horrific crimes against humanity, from the tens of millions murdered in Russia, to the bombing of Dresden and Tokyo, and the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagazaki).

What you said is so Stupid, you have got to be a Neo Con yourself!

  • Another thing I learned from Buchanan's book is that Churchill presided over the decimation of the Royal Navy in the Far East while he was Chancellor of the Exchequer. He claimed that there was no chance of a war with Japan. Whoops!

Far-sighted statesman, my ass. He was just a discord-sowing rabid Germanophobe who sold out his nation for the benefit of the US.

  • US allied with Russia under Putin? That would be a dream come true, a true Northern Allliance!

  • History has and will probably continue to show that Churchill was a bit of a "Provocateur". Still much history should be clarified on this point, it would seem the Churchill was a embarrassment to the British people and fantasied himself as a "war strategist", at great cost to Britain if not the rest of the free world.

  • Has Pat Buchanan ever commented on why Churchill was so adamant on starting or continuing a war with Germany, or any country he could?

  • I frigging hate WMG.

  • When u hear the word "neo-con", think 'jews and their puppets'.
