Betty MacDonald signs millionth copy of her book, "The Egg and I" on September 17, 1946 in Seattle, Washington. (Universal Pictures Newsreels are public domain and copyright-free)
Good News, Maryprelle - Nancy and Plum has been re-issued by Random House. It is available in paperback for about $8.00. If you purchase it through the Friends of Betty MacDonald web site, a portion of the sale goes to keeping the site going!
Nancy and Plum!!! Oh yes, I read the German translation of course and it molded my whole cosmos of books. It was and still is an initiating reading experience.

I like her lesser known book Nancy and Plum. I had an original copy, first issue but got left behind in a divorce.
I liked it so well I found a paperback and bought that as a replacement. Not the same sentimental value but still a good read.

I fell in love with Betty reading "The Egg and I," fell harder reading "The Plague and I." Betty, please come back and marry me.
