  • Beautiful video, I loved the look of the nebula and the warp effects! Did you scale-up the cube compared to the Enterprise? It looks way more imposing than I thought it did in Best of Both Worlds. Why was the star field so muted, though--it looked a little unfinished at times?

  • @thespecialneedsgroup

Thanks. The size of the Borg cube is not stated in any series or film, but considered to be 3000m across with the Enterprise-D at 642m long. I scaled this correctly in these shots but in BoBW they were limited by the physical models to get the perspectives right, so they couldn't do distant shots moving closer in such as at 3:01 for example, which really show the sheer size of the cube.

  • That was very cool! I love all the little updates you did like the borg warp flash and think the design of the cube was great. The only thing I would have done different is used the picard voice over as locutus, sort of like how in the narendra 3 battle video you used the yesterday's enterprise picard speech. love your choice of music too! is that from the soundtrack or something?

  • @sumbuddyx

Thanks, I wasn't sure where to fit the Locutus voice bit into the video. I did record it off the episode to use but I never did. The music is from the TNG soundtrack some Star Trek games and other places.

  • You've already earned your place in Stovokor but keep up the good work :)

One note though... The Borg cube looks well... too repetitive :) I presume its because you modeled all of those Cube parts yourself. It needs to have a more versatile texture. Have you considered using a bumped high res texture over a plain cube to achieve a more realistic look? I believe it would be great however I am by no means 3D expert :)

  • @holodock Thanks.

That would probably look good. It does have an opacity map applied to the outer surface which shows through the inner glow. It renders very quickly like this and I won't be changing it for Part 2 to keep it consistent.

  • why don't you splice these in with some of the dialogue sequences, (well at least the good ones) i dig your video creations

  • I love how you managed to get the timing of the music right with specific parts of the video as how they appeared on the episode! Well done :)

  • that was cool enough too be in a video game

  • u should merge the effects in with the episode, i think it would look alot better than the origional.

  • @VideoSpaceFX "dark and ominous" like space should be!

  • We have engaged the Borg.

    Still gives me goosebumps.

  • @NemesisMarine01 Agreed. The Motorola Droid commercials freak me out a little because they remind me of The Borg.

  • Fantastic job! At 6:12 I had to Ahhh! *homer scream*
