So did K-21 actually score hit(s) on that beast (like in the film) or was it just propaganda? I know in the film they did and they awarded the guy hero of the soviet union. I kind of got the impression the blasts they heard were in fact depth charges being dropped (albiet somewhat off-target) by one of the screening German Destroyers.

I've just noticed that the narration in these episodes is directly from Valentin Pikul's "Requiem to PQ-17".Great book. I guess this is a "video book". :)
