USC TROY PHILIPPINES SHOWCASES 18TH ANNUAL PILIPINO AMERICAN CULTURE NIGHT

(Los Angeles, CA--) Hundreds are welcomed to attend the 18th Annual Pilipino American Culture Night by USC Troy Philippines, Saturday, April 3rd, 2010, doors open at 4pm and the show starts at 5pm. Opened to the general public and free admission, PACN is USC Troy Philippines yearly student-run show, consisting of Filipino traditional dances and a one-hour play, and celebrating Filipino-American culture and social awareness of Fil-Am issues.

With a talented cast and pre-show, and sponsored by innovative and entrepreneurial companies from across the country, Troy Philippines continues to mold the cultural identity of its members through the unique process of creativity and the arts.

Organized and produced by Lauren Macaraeg, who is the PACN Coordinator of Troy Philippines, written by Niall-Conor Garcia, who also wrote the music and lyrics, and directed by Andrea Santos, Troy Philippines is crafting a show entirely created by USC students. This years Filipino dance suites include many traditional forms, such as Muslim, Tribal, Mountain, and Rural, and the musical skit explores questions of self-identity and strange circumstances. Script writer Garcia describes his creative work, which is entitled, One More Second a musical, as a play with Bildungsroman qualities.

The life of a young white guy named John gets turned upside down when it turns out that his late mother's last wish is to have him find and meet his father - a man who, to John's surprise, happens to be Filipino, says Garcia.

With his mother's best friend, a self-obsessed Filipina named Angelina, John embarks on the quest to find his father in the Philippines. Receiving help from Benny, his cross-dressing cousin, and Leia, a beautiful dancer, John navigates his way through situation after awkward situation to fulfill his mother's last wish.
