Aaron O'Rourke on mountain dulcimer
Mickey Abraham on mandolin
Mike Snelling on acoustic bass

Display their inimitable jass-folk-grass-fusion on this old fiddle tune.

At the Gamble Rogers Folk Festival in St. Augustine Florida May, 2008

Aaron's playing his new David Beede Dulcimer finished just hours before this performance. It is cherry, mahogany, ebony and spruce with Baggs pickup. It has a radiused fingerboard and an ebony ergonomic bevel on the lower bout to cushion his picking arm.

  • Mike Snelling doesn't get nearly enough credit for the product.

  • You're absolutely right.

Mike is an amazing bass player and it's my fault I didn't give him more screen time. But since I was trying to get a good look at the new dulcimer & Aaron's playing for learning purposes ... and finally in my defense, though the more typical, all three players full frame the whole time is more "democratic" - you end up not being able to see any of them very well.

Again, a huge thank you to Mike Snelling!!

  • And one more thing...

I'm with you in that well played "bottom end" instruments add amazing dimension to dulcimer playing. Aaron and I will be playing with a cellist friend at the upcoming Florida Folk Festival... I also have a true bass dulcimer - as in, it plays in the range of a stand up bass - on the drawing board.

  • totally enjoyed hearing these 3 play Labor Day weekend at the WareHouse in Tallahassee, FL. As always, they were awesome!!

  • Hahaha.

  • Amazing! When you kick it into double time at the 2:20 point, my ears can't even listen fast enough! String band jazz at its best!

  • I guess I now have to consider the dulcimer when asked what are the coolest instruments. That was fricken awesome!!

  • Do I hear a bit of Whiskey in there or is that just the way Bonapart sounds? Anyways who cares Aaron O'Rourke Trio rocks and is the future.

  • Fantastic!

    Love hearing this trio!

  • Wonderful tasty!

  • Aside from being a great bass player to work with, he's also one of the nicest people I know.
