  • This island is now a american millitary base. Over 2000 people have been deported. British gov. and American gov. decided to cut supply of food in order to push native people of this island to evacuate. Look for "Stealing a Nation" by John Pilger on youtube

  • The island where the pictures were taken is Solomon Islands (no relation to those in the western Pacific). It is not now nor ever was it a military base. The atoll you refer to is Diego Garcia, 120 miles south. The people of Chagos, some of whom were removed from Solomon Islands were removed probably 50 years ago. They were not indiginous people having originally be brought there to harvest copra and who stayed after that business ended. The issue is controversial but hardly clear cut.

  • 2000 bucks a month is kinda steep! for a visa.

  • When we were there it was about $90 for three months

  • @Hennessey727 You are VERY missinformed

  • @Hennessey727 Salomon Islands, not Solomon Islands, those are in the Pacific.

  • thiss island is now

  • Actually, the Chagos islanders have lived there since the late 18th century. They as as old as white Australians. The issue IS clear cut. They were deported from the islands where they had lived for generations. They should be allowed back.

  • Makes me think of Moitessier.

  • Thank you! I'm dreaming moments like these! Hope I will navigate west in a few years.

  • Those days are gone. Thanks for the video. I wanted to see it for myself but that doesnt seem to be in the cards now.Political situation combined with Crusiers useing coral heads for anchoring have put an end to it.
