This Stirling Engine is 100% solar powered. This engine provides a great solar train and teaching demonstration.

The nice thing about an engine like this, easy cover removal for short run gas testing.

Epic music funny:-)

  • what exactly do you use yours for?

  • @ena1rume this one is just a toy and for testing.

  • Where is your better half these Days?

  • She has been getting caught up on organizing. We got 120+ days of rain and it was impossible to stay organized.

    Stuff got soaked etc.

We are working on a solar panel finish video.

    She says HI:-)

  • Wow! That's great, can you attach a electric generator to it?

  • Working on a larger one DIY just like this. Waiting for parts.

  • I love your work Dan but I would really love to see one of these engines actually do some work. Not have a volt meter on it because voltage means nothing without amperage.

Basically I want to see an engine like this run a small motor under load or something. We need to see what sort of scaling / multiples of these engines would be required for useful work

  • Hi Dan,

Great video, I like it that you share your hobby and findings with us. I very much enjoy the good quality from your videos, considering that there is no professional camera crew and a director, etc. etc. I wish more people would follow your example, at least you are a big source of inspiration to me. Keep up the good work !!

Greets to you and Denise from the Netherlands, iT

  • How large would a 1hp sterling engine be roughly?

  • imagine attaching a dildo onto that thing.

  • Awesome. Very cool solar power! Props on what you accomplished!

But then comes the critical perfectionist part of me, so feel free to ignore. It looks great, but I can't see that it would be incredibly practical, especially on a mobile vehicle, but who knows? Any idea what kind of torque and/or power output your getting?

    Props, and cheers!

  • What???

  • @Bobster986

i dont know about his but alot dont have enough torch

  • the high cost for these and how simple they are make zero sense

  • Ever think of attaching another piston to the reverse end and driving a linear alternator to generate electricity? Curious to see how much juice you could make since a linear alternator is what Infinia is using in their parabolic single-piston stirling arrays. Whaddya think?

  • how come i never see these things generating electricity?
