I just wanted to say thank you for confirming that with a proper tune and supporting fuel mods even a stock 7 bolt can be a strong and reliable motor. Not enough people giving the 7 bolt any credit!

The exhaust was blown off with a catastrophic rear end failure and is much better now.
It is not a split thrust bearing 7bolt, it's the one that came with the car in 1996.
