  • This is actually a test tape for the new carbon skids fitted to this chopper. The brand of skid is Impact Skids Ltd. It's a Miami based company. They make very strong heli skids for rescue and military use.

  • @bellXV15 Hogwash. That's called "coning," and it happens when the blades are loaded, from before takeoff and throughout flight.

  • and also, the way the blades are making the upward V shape, he was low on rpm to start with! so all in all, a bad day at the office..

  • and while we're on the subject of inertial mass, same thing with the enstrom on the back of the greenpeace ship, the swell was such, that it just threw the heli upwards due to the inertia of the rotor disc....'rpm low til ready to go' say after me....

  • ...it's got none of that. found that out for myself in a 900 coming in hot, tail well down 45deg bank on.....it didn't like that at all....and that's why.

  • he'll be new to a notar, he's coming down with not enough forward speed to flare the rpm up for the cushion inertia....tries full nose down to pick up some speed an realises it's not responding in a way a 'proper' heli does flattens off confused, and pancakes it....VERY easily done in the early transition stages from t/r to notar, it's missing a HUGE inertial mass off the back end....try holding a bike wheel at the spindle, spinning it up and trying to change direction quickly...it's got none

  • almost looked like he hit vortex ring then tried to push out of it

  • @jlebesis Oh but it did. There's a video on here called airbus a380 flutter test, at about the 4 minute mark a piece of something ripped off the bottom. They won't show very well what it was but still… I know I don't ever want to go Mach .96 in that thing!

  • @8literbeater lol, nothing flew off! I've seen the documentaries. Things did come loose however, bolts were stripped etc. But thank God nothing flew off :)

  • @roastoo00ooveges dream on, son!
