  • Errol FLynn's career had started to fade by this time. THis movie lost money at the box office. I loved him in Robin Hood and Sea Hawk. His hard drinking and crazy life led to his losing his looks at an early age. He was really a great actor..

  • I ordered this movie and the scene that I described below was not in it.

For that alone I was disappointed.

But it was a good movie as far as swash bucklers go.

  • I ordered this movie.

It did not have the scene in it that I described below, so I am still looking for the movie, with that particular scene.

This movies had lots of action, nice scenes of Scotland, men in kilts, sword play. I guess I am getting too old now - and no longer thing that the main character should leer at everything in skirts though. But I suppose that was nessacary for the plot.

  • I am trying to find out the name of an old movie? I am 55 and I saw this movie when I was 12. .

The scene; English woman married to a Scotsman. He,wife and his men on the run from the British . They became trapped in an old church, the British was going to burn them out when the Scotsman claims she is kidnaped and they will exchange for thier freedom. The Scotsman picks her up in his arms and carries her out to the British.

Anyone know what movie this scene came from ?

  • hi

  • Beautiful photography and sets.

  • @yusufu9 - i think the first flynn film i saw was robin hood. i had been involved in a car accident that day and i decided that errol flynn would be just what i needed to cheer myself up and boy, did it work!!!! after that film, others followed when the errol flynn collection was on video in the early 1990s, the ones of him pictured on the front cover in different costumes. i also enjoy gentleman jim, it was released just before flynn went through that time he was in court.

  • @aewd1980 i became a fan when i saw 'captain blood' on tv, as a teenager back in the 60s. my enthusiasm even registered in the form of an errol flynn style mustache, which i wore for about a year in university (to the amusement of my contemporaries!). checking the list of flynn films on wiki, it looks like i've seen about 75%, and it reminded me of some of my other favorites: gentleman jim (a great historical comedy), northern pursuit, don juan, and kim. hope to see them all someday!

  • @yusufu9 - i'm sure i will enjoy it, thanks for telling me about it. how long have you been a fan of flynn?

  • @aewd1980 yes, just search it here on youtube, 'octagonal philosophy'. more episodes are supposed to follow. 'mara maru', that's another one i really like, and of course 'roots of heaven' -- errol was superb! i guarantee you'll enjoy flynn in 'istanbul' -- another late career gem.
