  • The rental fee seems reasonable given that you presumably have the run of the whole place. I have seen pictures of the completed lodge and it does look great. The repairs were not finished when we held the Rainbow Country reunion in 2006. I have posted video of the reunion on my channel.

Maybe I will rent it for a few days next summer and stage another reunion - although many of the individuals involved with the series are no longer with us - most recently Lois Maxwell and Bill Davidson.

  • I was at a meeting at rainbow lodge a few weeks ago in B.I. You can rent it for $300 per nite. It is all redone and looks nice.

The water level is really low so i don't think Billy could motor boat up to the dock. I noticed there are only 2 bedrooms upstairs. Hmmmm, where did Billy or Hannah sleep if Nancy had the main bedroom?????

  • The series was indeed filmed in and around Manitoulin Island and I hoped to get up there to do filmingm but did not make it. Instead, I used my summer cottage in Prince Edward County as a base and shot the wilderness scenes there. We held a reunion of the cast and crew of Rainbow Country in 2006 at the original venue and I will post videos of that reunion as soon I as I get to it.

  • Very well done, matching up the characters from 35 years ago to what they could look like today.

I thought the series was filmed on Manitoulin Island, I did not know it was done in Prince Edward County.

  • I met Janet in 2004 when I was working on a linguistics thesis. She's an author and storyteller and when I found out she also does theatre I asked her to be in the video and she agreed. I also thought she looks a lot like Margot Kidder in the "Long Tough Race" episode so that's how I worked it into the spoof.

  • Its amazing that you found her as she looks sooo much like Margot Kidder.
