The New Yorker's Jane Mayer discusses the lingering chill of 9-11 on journalistic freedom and freedom of the press. In this video from The Nation's "Journalism in 10" series, she discusses new risks faced by anonymous sources and whistleblowers, the current status and political momentum around "shield laws," and national security exceptions to freedom of speech.
She is making excuses for the Elite. The US Government, or should I say All Governments are only interested in taking care of themselves and the Elite they protect at the expense of their citizens. The government has no interest in helping its citizens. National Security was invented to repress opponents of the government policies not to protect its citizens.
