C-section was done because the cow having dystocia with fetal cases had over-sized and uterine fetal death (approximately 1 day was dead), so that manual handling has been done is not successful. The cow seem increasingly weakened, so that during surgery the cow more often in a sleeping position that difficult for the process of surgery. Supported by simple equipment and some equipment from the field, we have attempted to remove the fetus. Could be look extreme, but these efforts must we do to save the cow. We recognize that the process of C-section did not always run smoothly, but these barriers do not discourage our spirit, we even made a challenge that must be resolved. There is proverb: "there is no cane, the roots were so", because veterinary is one of the arts to help. This C-section (in cow) is the 19th C-section that has been done by Moech Saifoel, DVM (civil servants in Bondowoso and alumni of Gadjah Mada University). This incident occurred in the Ampelan village, Wringin district, Bondowoso regency, East Java, Indonesia on July 7, 2010.
At 5 days post-surgery, the cow showed recovery to good health. At 2 weeks post-surgery, through the rectal examination showed the uterus has recovered well and is alleged to have normal again and the seams removed.
Wound healing process goes well. At 6 months post-surgery scars are not appear and do not form callus. At approximately 3.5 months post-surgery, a cow has been bred through artificial insemination and is not successful. So farmers have taken the decision that the cow was mated again through natural mating (with a male cow). When taking the last video, the cow is not showing estrus again for 2 months and most likely, the cow was pregnant.
