But that's typical for some people to like Brenda's version better. It was the original and the majority of people tend to like original version of songs more than the cover versions no matter who sings it or how it is sung. My opinion on this was purely based on delivery and I feel Mariah's versatility with the lyrics takes the cake, while you feel Brenda did better and that's okay. I just stated my opinion as I read yours.

@Down4U I been playing music for 40yrs played behind a lot female singers,And i am telling you Mariah cannot sing this song better than Brenda K Starr!! I love Mariah singing but some of her notes are strong and some are weak on this song.I have read all the comment of this song and there are more people that like Brenda singing than Mariah.That should tell you something.Mariah try to sing the song to sexy it is not that type of a song.

Mariah sang this better. Love Brenda's version, but the versatility of Mariah's voice did this song justice. Brenda's was a cute, but a little stale because of her voice limitation.
