@DrMacBookPro - Yes everyone thats has a factory mac knows that "5400RPM HDD's are still pretty standard" and the sad part is your paying a premium price for "prehistoric" technology even in 2011...

You're right! I can tell too, the startup disk isn't defined on the one to the right, the boot loader isn't defining the drive as the startup disk. I can see that rig from a mile away.

this test is rigged i have not seen a mac load thst slow ever

This seems about right. I'm on a Windows machine myself (Win 7 Professional, 64-Bit), & my total boot to use time is 30 seconds. Noting that Windows does boot a bit slower than OSX, everything seems fine here.
Still, to the video poster, be careful with OSX Lion. The New Egg reviews of this drive say that it has been crashing under that OS.
It would seem that this drive isn't quite compatible with every OS yet. That's why I'm holding off on Linux until the next release package from Ubuntu

@mereigo Ur talking bollocks. Im using my macbook with a Momentus XT right now and can tell you for a fact these speeds are perfectly correct.

Hitachi drive hasn't been marked as a startup drive. Thats why it takes so long to discover the drive to start booting. The right boot up time for the hitachi is 1m:14s - 37s = 37s

Im thinking about this drive for my Macbook pro 2.4ghz. Did you had any problem with compatibility or is the same process for osx installation?
comeon its a 5400 rpm .. that is prehistoric
