Blanka vs. Zangief Strategy - Super Street Fighter II Turbo: HD Remix

This a great example of how Blanka should handle Zangief. The matchup is very tough for Gief, so long as Blanka remains patient throughout.

There isn't much Gief can do as long as Blanka keeps his distance. Gief can't advance in the air because standing medium punch shuts down everything. Advancing on the ground is the only option and as long as Blanka jumps or hops away from danger (or reverses with horizontal roll), Gief won't be able to land a SPD.

Granted, this guy is NOT the best Gief player out there. A good Gief player will close the distance with banishing fist and mix it up between low attacks, lariats, and SPDs.

But, even if that's the case, the basic strategy doesn't change for Blanka. Even if the battle stays on the ground, Blanka out-pokes Gief all day long with crouching fierce punch and slide. As long as he stays patient and doesn't get careless, it's usually a win for Blanka.

@pedacero anybody who doesn't turtle with blanka against gief is a fool. there's a reason why this is such an easy matchup. besides, if you want to see a better job of me playing against throw characters, see my vids against enrichedwheat. he is a much better opponent! :-D
