hello, I have one quest the latvian language is the same with wich other language?

this language is similar on lithuanian little bit. but naturaly this language came from germans.

yes, only... also in latvia popular russian language, 80% understand this language and speak

it's so sad that u are a latvian who's never been in his country..... there are a lot of interesting things to see.

you definitely should go sometime. u are a latvian, and u have to be proud of it, cuz it's a wonderful country (but i'm not talking about government.... they take from latvian people everything... but well....) yea.. u should go :)

actually, you're entirely wrong. It does not come from Germans.

Time for a quick Language Tree review. Indo-European languages further divide into branches. Germanic Branch is where German falls under. Whereas Latvia falls under the Balto-Slavic branch, then further down into Baltic, then into East Baltic...being directly related only to Lithuanian (among the living languages).

latvian is none similar to lithuanian at all and even not to clouse to German..... latvian!

@dangerously5 We have something in common. It sounds like you're from USA. I'm Latvian in Perth West Australia. I've never been to Latvia yet ... but planning on it, for real soon. Can't handle winters too well though ,,, even after a couple in central Oregon. I found on google earth the buildings where my parents lived during the nazi occupation, and when the ruSSian occupation stated; and the hospital where my brother was born. It's a smaller world now with broadband internet.
