  • This song is the best. The lyrics and the melody. Aahh!

  • MEIN ONKEL!!!

  • Oh, yeah, if you mean ghetto as in Jewish neighborhood sure, he lived in the Jewish district. The Jewish district of Krakow (in Yiddish: Kroke) was a neighborhood (in Yiddish: gegnt) called Kazimierz. I wouldn't call it a ghetto because Jews didn't legally have to live there (as they did starting in 1939 where the Jewish neighborhoods were made into ghettos). In many cities Jews could only live in select ghettos but this was never the case in Poland. All the best

  • This has presumably be written before the Nazis invaded Poland, as the song speaks about the time of childhood with no reference to the war. However, the Jews were living in specific neighbourhood (yes, ghettos when they were located near towns, shtetl otherwise) before the war.
