4 Paws For Ability - Training Assistance Dogs

Some of 4 Paws assistance dogs are trained at local correctional facilities by inmates. Strict requirements are met by the inmates to participate and they are trained by the 4 Paws staff. The 24/7 attention the inmates provide produces especially well adapted dogs and the inmates become good role models at the facilities.

I have a service dog, and he was in the prison in Lexington, Oklahoma for two months for training before I got home home and worked with him as well then had a agency here in Oklahoma that train service dogs assist me to train since I can't afford a trained service dog. They work miracles in the prisons with these dogs and it helped Bruno's trainer/inmate to be released into society. I can't say enough good things about the prison dog training programs! I'd do it again put a dog in prison!!!

More prisons should do more of these programs. It helps the dogs and the inmates.
