Barn Owl at Moscow Zoo - Сипуха в Московском Зоопарке (HD)

In this video, recorded at Moscow Zoo, we see how careful the barn owl is - before getting back to its nest, it carefully plans its flight, thinking ahead the way of evading all the obstacles, just like in its natural habitat where the path for its flight can be extremely complicated (e.g.by numerous tree branches). It's also constantly aware of its surroundings, and we can see it throwing a quick glance at the camera before making its way back to the nest.
The barn owl is a unique creature. It has a distinct, human-like face that makes it different from all the other birds, even another species of owls. In French the name for this type of owl is "dame blanche" - "white lady", which is also the name for ghosts and other paranormal apparitions. They are able to produce a whole variety of different sounds, but they are mostly known for their characteristic hissing which they make while scared or in danger, that's why in Russian it's called "Сипуха". But all these things are merely a way of defence for this beautiful creature - even though they are birds of prey, they only feed on small rodents and are mostly harmless to humans, they can even be friendly to humans if they don't see any threats.
