This 36 track Reggae Anthology includes a Bonus DVD featuring Sugar Minott LIVE at JapanSplash!
It is not easy to write about Sugar Minott in the past tense. His presence dominated Jamaican music from the late seventies onwards and it is almost impossible to believe that he is no longer with us. Sugar was not only hugely popular with the reggae audience but was also massively influential, and inspirational, amongst his fellow musicians and vocalists. Born 25th May 1956 in Kingston, Jamaica by the tender age of twelve Lincoln 'Sugar' Minott "started singing in an amateur talent contest near where I lived in Maxfield Park in Kingston..." One of the most successful careers in the history of Jamaican music sprang from these modest beginnings but Sugar Minott, "the ghetto singer", never ever forgot where he came from... "mostly inspired by his musical surroundings of sound system operators and kids who even danced to his singing without no musical accompaniment".
RIP Sugar minott, they done something for gregory they should do one for this legendary man sugar !!!!!!!!
