I am a California born girl raised in a small town with almost no culture. I moved to LA and met Tom, my Chinese/Vietnamese boyfriend. His dad told me, "if you can eat balut, you can go to Viet Nam." So, I ate balut. It was good! Tasted like a hard boiled egg with some chicken... makes sense I guess. The thing I spit out was a really hard egg-white thing. Didn't taste bad, just hard to bite, like a hockey puck. Next time, I try duck balut!

The white hard yolk is actually the placenta, u can eat it just has no taste the texture is sort of like chicken cartilage ,really crunchy!

@LovelyLoveble Its the egg white... but it just doesn't digest! Just sits in your stomach for days... and why eat something with no flavor? blehh!!
