Indonesians Make Obama Mosaic

Over in Indonesia, a group of stamp collectors who are also fans of U.S. Presidential candidate Barack Obama have made a mosaic of Obama with local stamps. Here's more:

STORY:
The mosaic was carefully put together with thousands of local stamps was symbolic of their hopes for U.S. Democratic Presidential candidate Barack Obama in the November 4 elections.

[Rico Alfonso, Philatelist]:
"To make the mosaic, we needed three thousand stamps."

Obama is America's first African American Presidential candidate for a major political party, and spent some of his childhood years in the Indonesian capital Jakarta.

Many Indonesians think Obama could bring the two nations closer together.

[Rico Alfonso, Philatelist]:
"From our perception he is an intelligent person, and maybe he will take America and the whole world to a better direction"

The United States and Indonesia have enjoyed a close security and intelligence relationship over recent years as the governments united in the fight against terrorism.
