Fantastic, this live 1951 Mexico AIDA is tremendous. Maria is not very subtle in "O patria mia" (the high C is sung forte, not piano) but the rest of her performance is superb. The E-flat is phenomenal, but she is caressing and seductive in the Nile Scene. I loved Oralia Dominguez as Amneris. In the final scene neither Callas nor Del Monaco have problems with volume, long arching phrases held forever, the violins swelling and subsiding, and love conquering death. Listen, people, and marvel.
