ICANN recently stated that it has gone through a laborious process to gain consensus for its generic top-level domain expansion program. In reality, the organization hasn't gained the level of consensus it claims. Bob Liodice, CEO and president of the ANA, says there are more than 100 organizations standing with the ANA in opposition to this harmful program.

  • You are a joke and the ANA is a joke. New gTLDs represent freedom of speech, and opposition to it is a violation of the First Amendment and is therefore unconstitutional and un-American.

  • 103 signatories out of 443 members? Sounds to me like 3/4 of your members do not share your views on this, Bob!

  • The new gTLD program was not sprung upon the public in June. The present program has been arrived at in a well-documented, long running, public, multi-year process. Many members of ANA have actively engaged to make their objections heard and these were taken into account in the present form of the program.

The only reasons why ANA claims its objections have not been heard is because ANA has chosen not to engage in the policy-making process because FUD and armchair-quarterbacking is cheaper.

  • ANA claims to have 443 members. In this video, you state that 103 have signed your statement and make it sound like a big number. However it is only 23% of your membership. 77% have not signed. Try guess why!

So who is the liar here?

  • "how can you claim to have reached a consensus":

ANA did not even participate in the consensus process (as many large brands have). In other words ANA, despite knowing about the program for a long time, has chosen not to get involved in it. Instead of working within ICANN to make sure all concerns are heard, ANA has chosen to wait until consensus was reached, and sabotage the result post factum.

So who is the liar here?
