Kenyan political satirists aim to tell the truth about Kenyan politics. They say that while the country claims to be democratic, its still practicing tribalism and panders towards corruption. Their shows aim to bring out the issues that affect Kenya as a whole - to use humour as a way of dealing with difficult subjects to raise public debate over subjects that might otherwise stay off the agenda. Al Jazeera's Peter Greste reports from Nairobi.

Satire as a tool to criticize politics is an invaluable part of free speech. Just as voters should be free to choose any platform, from far right to far left, they should also be able to take issue with any part of that platform they disagree with either seriously or humourously. The violence that can erupt after a vote is completely unacceptable though. Part of democracy is being a gracious loser and patiently bidding ones time to the next election.
