Yes its FWD and its saves a lot of weigth. With 300+ hp, slick tires and a limited-slip-diff you'll only have traction disadvanatges from a standing start. From an engineers point of view the turbo-4 is the better choice: more power and torque, theoretically better mileage and it fits into that climate, downsizing, treehugging bullshit. The VR6 is an emotional enthusiasts engine with lots of tradition and they originally had plans to make an R36 Golf. 2.0t is still great though.
@fesch03 So the Scirocco GT 24 is FWD, not AWD, right? Why is that? To save weight for the 24 hours, to make better fuel economy? I wonder if that's the same reason they chose the turbo-4 instead of the VR6.
@sorti89 TSI stands for Turbocharged Stratified Injection or Twincharged Stratified Injection. The 2.0 is a single turbo engine. Im studying Automotive Engineering in Wolfsburg (Home of VW) and i have driven several cars with this engine. Simply believe me.
agreed. I can't possibly think why would any1 think its ugly, its sleek and badass. IMO- the best looking car ever. I'd give my kidney, liver and a brain for this oneXD
@justforever96
The 2011 24h car is a Golf mk6 with the 2,5 liter turbo 5-cylinder, over 400 hp and AWD ;).
Hopefully the R-version of the mk7 will get it as well.
