Devo's debut is awesome - quintissential new wave. This band was proclaimed to be the "future of punk" by iggy pop, david bowie, robert fripp, and brian eno(and for a short time, they really were). Although widely argued about, they finally decided the album was to be produced by brian eno(1978). Eno paid for the flights and studio cost for the band, confident that the band would be signed to a record contract. In return for his work on the album, Eno asked for a share of any subsequent deals. The debut received mixed reviews upon release, but over time has found a spot on many "best of" lists from publications like rolling stone, spin, and pitchforkmedia. Don't let the radiation suits fool you, Devo could rock with the best of them. Everyone's Devo

  • I was in 9th grade in 1978 in upstate NY when this album came out and Devo exploded. After they did Saturday Night Live, everyone was talking about Devo. My friends and I loved them. Surprisingly, I never got to see them back then, though I saw every other band of that era. Finally, I saw them in August, 2006 in San Antonio. It was worth the wait! They're an American treasure. I'll see them again later this month, on 3/27/11, in Austin. Duty now for the future!

  • @tmmoring hell yeah man i go to texas state in san marcos ..i was trying to snag some tickets for the austin show but all i could find were 70 dollar tickets which are a little steep for me.

  • thanks for all the comments ..i love reading comments on my videos from people that were alive when all this music was on the rise. i REALLY do like reading those comments ..seeing as how i was born a few years after alot of this was being created

genuinely good music can sometimes be lost but its never forgotten

  • When the Weather Channel pumps this during their Local on the 8s, you've got one kick-ass instrumental.

  • I am British. Nonetheless, Duty Now....

  • @Timotaa

    Try google!

  • I am a crusty-alt-punk-dinosaur.... this might be my favorite song.

  • I used to listen this right before I went out surfing in the 70's. It pumped me up for the great waves. The beginning is a classic surf film track.

  • DEVO is so F*&%#$% COOL! They are still GREAT and sound FANTASTIC!

  • @DABEARS1088 this is america, ain't it? go fuck yourself, kid...

  • I saw devo 3 years ago and they were amazing!!! One of the coolest, most energetic shows ever..The coolest thing, they are all over 50!!! So bad ass!!!

  • Encouraging that something once thought "weird" or challenging would stand the test of time and be embraced by so many. They rock!

  • STEVE ZISSOU

  • What I know...I'm 55 years old and have a 21 year old son who respects Devo. That says a lot. They made sense then, they make sense now.
