Research helped farmer decide on waterbeds

This Pennsylvania dairy farmer talks about his decision to install waterbeds for cows over sand because of the time consuming maintenance.

To date, there have been a number of articles written on waterbeds for cows. Temple Grandin, world-renowned researcher and animal rights expert, oversaw the doctoral research of Dr. Wendy Fulwider. Dr. Fulwider studied the impacts of dairy cow stall bedding on herd health. Dr. Fulwider published three papers:
