Dying With Dignity-guardianship abuse

Sarah Harvey says shes not happy with the treatment she says her brain-injured husband is receiving from the Chemung County Department of Social Services.
Harveys husband Gary has had a permanent brain injury for over three years. She lost guardianship over him to Chemung County more than two years ago. She says losing that right was a big blow and since then ahs been fighting to bring her husband home
In 2006, 55-year-old Gary Harvey had a heart attack and fell down the basement stops of this Horseheads home, striking his head, and leaving him with the brain injury. Hes been in assisted care at the Chemung County Nursing Facility in Elmira for years. Sarah says shes taken issue with the quality of care Gary has received. She says no one paid attention to her complaints. So to draw attention to Garys suffering, she cut his trach tube. Since then, she says shes only been allowed supervised visits, has no say over her husbands medical care, and is afraid the county is going to instate a DNR.
Chemung County attorney Bryan Maggs released a prepared statement saying The Department of Social Services was appointed as a guardian andhas done an excellent job of managing this very difficult situationthe county will continue to act in Mr. Harveys best interest, with court oversight and guardianship responsibilities. Sarah and Gary Harvey are husband and wife she has restricted visitation with supervision all of this by demand of Gary's guardian. This is abuse of power, this is INSANITY.

Garys wife Sarah is the right person to make decisions. She has shown remarkable restraint, patience and courage during this ordeal all for the love of her husband.

@helensniece I've been living as my husband's Guardian since his brain injury 3 yrs ago. Expensive confusing Annual reports are required and an Attorney must be hired every time you wish to approach the Court. The threat of loosing the Guardianship hangs over our heads all the time. This video is true and disturbing. Guardianship law has not kept up with brain Injury survival rates. It's cruel to separate couples.

The Guardianship Racket is the biggest SCAM on American families today because it is very profitable for these

unscrupulous Judges/Attorneys and

court ordered professionals who sell their licenses to make thier reports say

anything the racketeers want in Probate/Juvenile/Family courts. Vulnerable citizens: elders, disabled, and children are being LEGALLY kidnapped

for PROFIT, tearing family's apart.

I would imagine Brian Maggs has a template for the statement he made, and he probably uses it often.

If they are doing this to Gary Harvey, they are doing it to other vulnerable and helpless people.

Further, Mr. Meggs, if you personally make the statement that the county did an "excellent" job as guardian, when in fact you have no knowledge of the matter, is that immoral or unethical?

Mr. Maggs, if an attorney reads a prepared statement to the press written by someone else and it is later discovered later that the statement was false, is the attorney held accountable for the false information being disseminated??????
