Students with the Job Corps in Texas are working on the Saturday after Thanksgiving on maintaining Historic Ross Cemetery off Hwy. 5 between Fairview and McKinney, Texas. Ross Cemetery is a historic black cemetery, which has been vandalized over the years. Some former slaves are buried here. Volunteers, sponsors and grants are needed to help maintain the cemetery, which was overgrown when Flo Henry and volunteers started cleaning it up. Behind the cemetery, sits McKinney's Historic Pecan Grove Cemetery, which has graves dating to the Texas Revolution and Civil War. http://northtexas.jobcorps.gov. She gives credit to VFW Post 2150, Olive Garden and the Job Corps in McKinney for many hours of work already to get the cemetery back into shape.
